The RP-3 Aqua glove is part of Oxford Products ‘Essential Rider Wear’ range; it’s a full specification waterproof, short leather race-inspired glove, designed for road use. Made from dyed Aniline leather, there are Aramid anti-abrasion reinforcements on the palm, little finger and complete upper. It has funky-looking yellow stitched seams made from anti-abrasion Aramid thread which adds strength to the construction. To help protect those precious digits the glove comes with soft impact-absorbing padding on upper and palms. There’s also an anatomically moulded floating knuckle system which provides comfort and mobility. The gloves don’t have a built-in ‘visor wipe’ through (which I normally find quite useful, especially on rainy days). However, they do have another useful feature; hidden away under the joint protection there’s a neat little space large enough to keep things small change toll booths, parking tickets, etc, so that you don’t have to fumble through your pockets unnecessarily.

The gloves also have a moisture-wicking upper lining utilising specially-engineered polyester fibres known as ‘Coolmax’ to improve ‘breathability’ when compared to natural fibres. There’s also a Hipora waterproof and breathable membrane with an anti-removal liner.
In use, the gloves are quite comfortable and provide enough flexibility to be able to control bike levers, etc, as you should be able to. I wouldn’t describe them as a full-on winter weight glove and they could be a thick to wear on a hot summer’s day; but they’re perfectly suitable for use during the spring and autumn riding seasons.
